At the western end of the bridge is the Flower Garden which connects to the proposed culture center at the eastern end. Although it is a pedestrian bridge, cyclists can also use it to cross the river. The bridge has lower and upper walkways which gives it the capacity to receive more pedestrians. To ensure the strength of the bridge, it has been built using steel pipes that weigh 2600 metric tonnes. The railing is made of glass and stainless steel and the roof is made of colored fabric.

Atal Bridge Arrangements

Nowadays people are very fond of taking mobile selfies, and arrangements have been made for the same here. The kinetic structure of the bridge provides a great spot for taking selfie pictures. However, even then people have to follow the safety rules and follow the instructions. No one is allowed to climb the pillars of the bridge. There is a 20-foot sculpture in the middle of the bridge, which moves with the wind and looks mesmerizing.

Atal Bridge Ahmedabad Distance

Recreational activities are available in the middle of the bridge. From here people can enjoy nature in peace. One can reach Atal Bridge by road, air, and rail. If one comes by road then this bridge is well connected to Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Rajkot cities of Gujarat. On the other hand, if we talk about the train, Kalupur railway station is the closest, which is at a distance of 5.5 kilometers. One can reach here from the railway station in 15 minutes. The nearest airport is Ahmedabad, which is 11.9 km away. One can reach here in about 21 minutes. The bridge gives visitors access to public developments constructed on both the eastern and western ends. It takes conveniently to a multi-level car parking on the west of the bridge.

Atal Bridge Instructions by Local Administration

The government has also restricted the number of people gathering on the bridge at one time. Rules are made by the Ahmedabad Civic Body, more than 3000 people cannot gather on the bridge in an hour. This decision has been taken after the Morbi Bridge accident. The crowd is often more on weekends or festivals and the administration is also more cautious during such times. It is estimated that the number of tourists visiting the Atal Bridge will increase significantly in the coming times.

Atal Bridge Construction Details

The colors on the bridge have been used beautifully, inspired by the kite festival in Gujarat. The bridge has been designed by STUP Consultants based in Mumbai. Its construction is done by P & R Infraprojects. Shades made using colorful fabric on the bridge protect the visitors from the harsh climate. This means people will be protected from the hot sun during the summer season. In fact, the kinetic structure of the bridge will save the visitors from the speedy wind blowing over the Sabarmati River. PM Narendra Modi has shown the age-old civilization of India through this bridge. Along with this, a glimpse of emerging India has also been presented through its advanced architecture.
