He passed the UPSC exam in 1885 and became the Assistant Superintendent of Police of Kerala State Cadre. His first posting was in Vaynad District Kerala. He Belongs to a lower-middle-class family. Arun Kumar Sinha IPS served as Police Commissioner of Kochhi and Tiruanantpuram districts. where he indulged in solving many crime cases. Sinha is known for his identical reforms in the Kerala Police. He is credited with starting one of the best Crime-stopper systems 1090 in Kerala state.

Arun Kumar Sinha graduated in science. After graduation, he completed his MTech from Patna University. Arun cracked the UPSC exam and was posted in Kerala state. As superintendent of police, he handled many crime cases in different police stations. He was later promoted to commissioner of police and served in various districts of Kerala state. He was known for various reforms in Kerala Police. Establishing Coast Polic Station, Launching 1090 crime control service.
